CHP Bodrum Chairman Tuna Işın Resigns, Citing Party 'Takeover'

Tuna Işın, the district chairman of the Republican People's Party (CHP) in Bodrum, has resigned, declaring his departure during a meeting themed "Towards power, with new hope." His resignation was followed by numerous other party members, including former district chairmen, who had dedicated many years to the CHP.

Işın attributed the decision to dismissals at the CHP General Headquarters, characterizing them not as purification but as a "takeover." He stated, "If provincial and district chairmen are dismissed without being subject to any legal proceedings, this is not purification, it is a takeover. We oppose this takeover both conscientiously and voluntarily."

The resignation, Işın emphasized, was not solely the decision of the executive board. It emerged from the collective will of the Bodrum organization, shaped by neighborhood meetings and member surveys. He asserted that they are not abandoning the struggle but are instead embarking on a new one, driven by a sense of grave responsibility rather than anger.

"We are not abandoning the struggle. On the contrary, we are starting a new struggle," Işın declared. He announced that details regarding a new political formation and membership process would be disclosed to the public within approximately one month. The new movement's operations will be based out of Işın's former election office in Bodrum. "We will continue the struggle, no stopping. We will work within the people, together with the people, hand in hand with the people," he concluded.
