Christians urged to pray for Nigeria’s leaders at Men’s Fellowship Convention

At the 38th Annual Convention of the Abundant Life Gospel Church Men’s Fellowship in Lagos, Christian leaders called for intensified prayers for Nigeria's leaders and urged collective efforts toward national development. The three-day event, themed “Unbeatable,” focused on equipping men to navigate current economic and social challenges through seminars and prayer sessions.

The Bible instructs us to pray for those in authority. Our leaders do not possess all knowledge, and no leader can succeed without the support of the people they serve.

Deacon Bola Showumi, the fellowship's National President, stressed the biblical instruction to pray for those in authority, stating that leaders need citizen support and prayers to address the nation's issues. He encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful, believing that faith, unity, and collective action can overcome the country's difficulties. Showumi also advised Christian men to lead upright lives and avoid crime, asserting that righteousness is crucial for national progress.

In a seminar on navigating uncertain times, Rev. Tunde Owolabi of Abundant Life Gospel Churches in Oyo State, encouraged participants to maintain hope amidst prevailing challenges. He highlighted that every believer possesses the inner capacity to overcome adversity through faith and determination. Owolabi also urged government officials to prioritize security and foster an environment conducive to business and citizen thriving, believing that enhanced security would restore public confidence and aid national development.

There is something God has deposited in every believer to overcome challenges. In every difficult moment, there are opportunities, and with determination and God’s help, we will emerge stronger.

The convention also addressed the importance of peaceful elections, with speakers appealing to politicians and supporters to reject violence. Prayers were offered for victims of insecurity and for members of the armed forces. The event's planning committee stated that the activities were designed to strengthen men spiritually, physically, and emotionally, offering spiritual impartation, medical checks, and discussions to build resilience.
