Chumel Torres doubles donations for Colombia after major earthquake

Colombia is grappling with the aftermath of a powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck its Chocó department, with the epicenter near San José del Palmar. The seismic event has resulted in numerous fatalities, injuries, and widespread material damage across cities such as Manizales, Cali, and Pereira.

Mexican communicator Chumel Torres took to social media to express solidarity with Colombia and urged his followers to contribute to relief efforts. He announced a personal initiative to double donations made to the Red Cross.

Torres proposed a simple mechanism: individuals who donate should send a screenshot as proof of their contribution. He pledged to match these amounts, aiming to amplify the total aid sent to Colombia. "Let's do a cool dynamic: Send me your donation in a screenshot and I'll double it. We are here to help, just as you helped us," he stated, referencing past support received.
