Chung-Lien Oil Plant Manager Detained; Opposition Leader Cries Collusion

The plant manager of Chung-Lien Oil, Chen Ming-jung, has been detained and is barred from meeting visitors as investigations continue into the company's excessive benzo(a)pyrene (BaP) levels. This development comes after the company's general manager, Yu Ling-chong, was also detained on similar charges.

Taiwan People's Party Chairman Huang Kuo-chang strongly criticized the situation, labeling it as "odious collusion between officials and businesses." He pointed out that both Yu Ling-chong and Chen Ming-jung attended a critical meeting held by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on July 4. Huang demanded that Premier Cho Jung-tai cease evading the issue and provide a clear explanation to the public.

Huang stated that he had seen news reports about the plant manager's detention after his bail was revoked. He highlighted that three individuals from Chung-Lien Oil attended the FDA meeting on July 4: General Manager Yu Ling-chong, who is already detained, and Plant Manager Chen Ming-jung, who was detained on the day of the report. Huang questioned how long Premier Cho Jung-tai would continue to hide, given that another individual involved in the key meeting had been detained.
