Cijayanti River Swells, Flooding Hundreds of Homes in Bogor Village

Residents of Desa Cijayanti in Babakan Madang, Bogor Regency, West Java, are grappling with the aftermath of severe flooding after the Cijayanti River breached its banks on Sunday, May 24, 2026. Intense rainfall led to the river's overflow, submerging numerous homes and causing significant damage.

The Badan Penanggulangan Bencana Daerah (BPBD) of Bogor Regency reported that the deluge inundated 138 houses in the village. In addition to the widespread flooding, one house completely collapsed due to the force of the overflowing river. The images from the scene show residents salvaging belongings from their damaged homes and community members assisting in the cleanup efforts.

Despite the extensive property damage, including the destruction of one residence, the incident fortunately resulted in no loss of life. Emergency response teams and local villagers were observed working together to clear debris and help those affected by the floodwaters. The focus is now on recovery and rebuilding efforts in the affected areas of Desa Cijayanti.
