Ciliwung Festival Encourages Residents to Protect River and Preserve Betawi Culture

Jakarta's Condet area hosted the 7th Ciliwung Festival on Saturday, July 25, 2026, under the theme "From Our Culture, We Save Nature." This annual event seeks to foster greater public concern for the Ciliwung River's preservation while simultaneously strengthening the conservation of Betawi arts and culture.

The festival, backed by significant national support including Dana Indonesiana, LPDP, and the Indonesian Ministry of Culture, featured a variety of activities designed to engage the community. A key component was a river exploration activity, allowing participants to witness firsthand the condition of the Ciliwung River and understand the importance of environmental care.

Beyond environmental awareness, the festival celebrated the rich cultural heritage of the Betawi people. Attendees enjoyed diverse performances of Betawi traditional arts and culture, presented by local communities.
