Citawarna Malaysia Unites Diverse Ethnicities in Celebration of Heritage

Citawarna Malaysia has successfully bridged ethnic divides, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds to celebrate the nation's heritage and foster mutual respect. The event, rooted in Malaysia's history and identity, aims to strengthen societal harmony.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that the revived Citawarna event is a government initiative to preserve the cultural heritage that forms the bedrock of the nation's identity. He noted that the festival, last held seven years ago, showcased the diverse traditions from across Malaysia in a vibrant spectacle.

He added that the "Madani Government" revived Citawarna to boost efforts in preserving cultural heritage, which is central to the nation's identity, and to introduce Malaysia's uniqueness to the world in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

After being last organized seven years ago, the Madani Government has revived Citawarna to intensify efforts to preserve cultural heritage, which is the cornerstone of the nation's identity.

Anwar expressed his excitement witnessing the spirited performances from each state, which included traditional dances like randai and tari piring, zapin and samrah, dondang sayang, and tarian canggung. He remarked that each performance was not only entertaining but also highlighted the history and stories behind the traditional arts passed down through generations.

Citawarna 2026 returned to Dataran Merdeka as a key event for Tourism Malaysia, part of the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign. The "Colours of Parade" segment featured 3,500 dancers representing 13 states, three Federal Territories, and diverse cultural communities. The event also attracted over 700 international tourists through specially designed tour packages from countries including China, India, Mauritius, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Kazakhstan, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and France.
