CITIZEN's Eco-Drive Marks 50 Years with New GPS and Radio-Controlled Watches

Japanese watchmaker CITIZEN is commemorating the 50th anniversary of its groundbreaking Eco-Drive technology, first introduced in 1976 with the "Crystron Solar Cell." This innovation converts light into electrical energy, eliminating the need for battery replacements and aligning with environmental consciousness. To mark this milestone, CITIZEN is launching a series of celebratory activities, beginning with two new men's watches that integrate Eco-Drive with advanced functionalities, showcasing the brand's continuous pursuit of horological excellence.

The first new release is the ATTESA series Eco-Drive GPS satellite-controlled watch, model CC4107-80H. This timepiece features a distinctive octagonal bezel for a sharp aesthetic. Constructed entirely from lightweight and skin-friendly titanium, the watch boasts a unique crystal titanium pattern on its bezel and strap, achieved through CITIZEN's proprietary heat treatment process, lending it a brilliant metallic texture. Powered by the F950 Eco-Drive movement with GPS satellite timekeeping, it can synchronize time within three seconds of receiving a satellite signal. It also includes a 39-zone world time display and dual-time functionality, ensuring accurate timekeeping regardless of the wearer's location.

The second offering is the Eco-Drive world radio-controlled watch, model AT8269-81L, which exudes a more understated, gentlemanly style. Its 42mm stainless steel case is enhanced with a striking pink gold plating, complemented by a deep blue dial. The sub-dials, hands, and hour markers are also accented in pink gold, creating a harmonious blend of warm gold tones with the dark blue. This watch utilizes world radio-controlled technology, automatically calibrating the time by receiving signals from radio towers. It is designed to meet the needs of both business and travel, combining aesthetic appeal with practical daily utility.
