Citizens Aid Police in Apprehending Illegal Immigrants for Dangerous Driving

Two citizens, one of whom was a former police officer, helped Jeju police apprehend four Chinese nationals suspected of dangerous driving and violating immigration laws. The incident occurred early on July 25th when the suspects, identified as Chinese national A and three others, fled from police during a routine traffic stop in Jeju City.

Police pursued the suspects for approximately 1.3 kilometers before blocking their vehicle. However, the four men then scattered and attempted to escape on foot. During the ensuing struggle, the suspects resisted arrest violently, making it difficult for the officers to subdue them.

At this critical moment, two bystanders intervened. One was identified as Lee Young-ho, a member of the Jeju Self-Governing Police Committee, and the other was a man in his 60s whose identity remains unknown as he left the scene after the suspects were apprehended. Their decisive actions in physically restraining the suspects were instrumental in their capture. Jeju Provincial Police Commissioner Ko Pyung-ki expressed sincere gratitude to the citizens for their courageous and immediate assistance.
