Clash between military and cartel in Chiapas leaves one dead, one arrested

Mexican security forces engaged in a firefight with a cartel cell in Cintalapa, Chiapas, resulting in the death of an armed suspect and the arrest of another individual. The confrontation occurred when soldiers from the VII Military Region, along with the National Guard and State Police, were attacked by cartel members hiding in vegetation.

During the exchange of gunfire, one male suspect, estimated to be around 25 years old and unidentified by any documents, was killed. Security forces repelled the attack, neutralizing the aggressor. Following the incident, authorities discovered two AK-47 rifles, two tactical vests, and nine loaded magazines at the scene.

In a separate but related operation in Cintalapa, authorities arrested a man identified as José “N,” also known as El Feyo. He was found with a 7.62x39 mm rifle and five doses of methamphetamine. The detainee claimed affiliation with the Cártel Chiapas y Guatemala (CCyG), a branch of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).

The arrested individual and the seized weapons and drugs have been handed over to the Public Ministry. The report also mentions the identification of two individuals executed in Tapanatepec, Oaxaca, as citizens from Comitán de Domínguez, Chiapas, one of whom was identified as Mario Pineda, a veterinarian known for raising roosters, and Samuel Alejandro Solís Arguello. Their families are expected to claim their bodies from the Oaxaca Prosecutor's Office.
