Clubs complete late business ahead of new GPL season

Ghanaian Premier League clubs are making final squad adjustments ahead of the 2026/27 season, which kicks off on September 4. A flurry of late transfer activity and free-agent signings has reshaped numerous teams, from established powerhouses like Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak to ambitious lower-tier clubs.

Medeama SC has emerged as one of the busiest clubs, strengthening its midfield, defense, and attack. Notable acquisitions include Etse Dogli from Heart of Lions on a three-year deal and Emmanuel Boateng from Eleven Wonders on a two-year contract. The club also bolstered its attack with free agent Dominic Frimpong and winger Emmanuel Fobi from Georgia's Dila Gori, both on three-year deals. Further additions include players from Latvian leagues and Sudanese goalkeeper Monged Abuzaid Salman.

Hearts of Oak has focused on investing in young talent, securing several players on long-term contracts. Abdul Aziz and Ebenezer Amoh have joined on three and two-year deals, respectively. The club also signed Rockson Kyeremeh and Manuel Osei Djan from PAC Academy to five-year contracts. Port City FC has also been active, adding experience and attacking options through free agents and signings from local and international clubs, including Ishak Suraj from Lebanese side Al Ahly.

Swedru All Blacks are also continuing their recruitment drive, adding a substantial group of players to their roster. These moves signal a competitive landscape for the upcoming season, with clubs aiming to strengthen their positions through strategic player acquisitions.
