'Clueless' sequel series with Alicia Silverstone announced

The beloved 1995 teen comedy "Clueless" is getting a new lease on life with a sequel series in the works at Paramount+. The upcoming show will pick up 30 years after the original film, centering on Cher Horowitz, now a businesswoman and mother to a teenage daughter.

Actress Alicia Silverstone, who starred as the iconic Cher in the original movie, is set to return to the role. She will also take on a role behind the scenes as an executive producer for the series. "Clueless - was sonst!" director Amy Heckerling is also involved as a producer, and the writing team includes Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, known for their work on "Gossip Girl."

The original "Clueless," set in Beverly Hills, followed the fashion-forward and popular Cher as she navigated high school, friendships, and romance. The film was a commercial success and has since achieved cult classic status, even being recognized for its cultural significance by the U.S. National Film Registry.

Silverstone's career took off with "Clueless," and she has since appeared in various films, including "Batman & Robin," "The Killing of a Sacred Deer," and "Book Club."
