Coalition calls Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia a dangerous escalation and vows a firm response

The Saudi-led coalition has described Houthi attacks on the kingdom as a “dangerous escalation” and vowed to confront what it called an increasingly hostile approach with firmness.

Coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki al-Malki said the attacks targeted Saudi Arabia’s national assets, citizens and residents. He said the latest strikes hit civilian and economic sites in the cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran, injuring 73 civilians, including women and children.

Al-Malki called the attacks a blatant violation of Saudi sovereignty and a direct threat to the safety of citizens and residents. He said the Houthis were deliberately damaging national resources, facilities and civilian sites.

The spokesman also described the attacks as part of what he called the group’s continued extremist and criminal conduct, which he said rejects peace and stability in Yemen and the wider Arab and Islamic region. He said the coalition’s joint forces command would take the necessary operational measures to deter the militia and confront its attacks decisively.
