Cocaine, cash and guns seized in months-long Winnipeg police investigation

A months-long investigation by the Winnipeg Police Service has culminated in the seizure of significant quantities of cocaine, firearms, cash, and vehicles, valued at approximately $278,500. The operation targeted the trafficking of prohibited firearms and illicit drugs.

The investigation, initiated in March, was conducted by the Firearms Enforcement Unit with assistance from the Canadian Border Services Agency. On Tuesday, police executed several search warrants across multiple locations, including Maryland Street, Aubert Street, and Belton Street.

During the searches, officers recovered a .22 calibre rifle with ammunition, a .38 calibre handgun, a 5.56 calibre rifle, and three Glock auto-sears. Approximately 513 grams of cocaine, estimated to have a street value of $43,500, were also seized along with $77,000 in cash, a money counter, and several vehicles and e-bikes.

Eight people, ranging in age from 18 to 43, have been taken into custody. They face a variety of charges, including drug and firearm trafficking, possession of prohibited firearms, proceeds of crime, and breach-related offences. Six of the accused remain in custody, while the other two have been released on an undertaking.
