Cold front to bring sub-10°C temperatures to Paraguay

Paraguay is bracing for a sharp decline in temperatures as a cold front moves in, set to bring minimums below 10°C across much of the country early this week. The Directorate of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) confirmed that a mass of cold air will settle over the nation, causing a widespread temperature drop on Monday and Tuesday.

The southern wind will intensify the cooling effect, even as the skies remain mostly sunny with a low probability of rain. The DMH forecasts the lowest temperatures in Itapúa, where readings could hover between 6°C and 7°C by Tuesday. Misiones and Ñeembucú departments will experience lows around 9°C on Monday, dropping to 7°C on Tuesday.

Even the capital, Asunción, and the surrounding Central department will feel the chill, with overnight lows expected between 9°C and 10°C for both Monday and Tuesday. Despite these cool mornings, afternoon highs could reach between 19°C and 20°C. However, the persistent southern wind may make the actual perceived temperature feel one to two degrees colder than the thermometer indicates.

Other regions will also experience cooler conditions. Departments like Concepción, San Pedro, and Amambay are forecast to have minimum temperatures around 10°C. In the Western Region, areas such as Presidente Hayes and Boquerón will see nighttime lows ranging between 9°C and 11°C.
