Collserola wildfire stabilized after forcing evacuations

A wildfire in Barcelona's Collserola park has been stabilized after burning 35 hectares, primarily brushland. The fire, which raged for less than ten days after a previous incident, forced the temporary evacuation of 35 residents from Torre Baró. These residents found shelter with family and friends, with no need for alternative housing.

Emergency services, including firefighters from Generalitat and Barcelona, along with rural agents, are working to control the remaining active areas. While the fire is no longer threatening buildings or requiring further evacuations, aerial units will continue to monitor the zone. The dense smoke visible across the city prompted over a thousand calls to emergency services.

Mayor Jaume Collboni praised the collaboration among emergency services. Rural agents are investigating the fire's origin, which occurred in a zone considered high-risk for African swine fever, prompting increased precautions. This marks the second fire in the Collserola natural park in just ten days.
