Colombia arrests Peruvian Interpol Red Notice suspect at Cartagena airport

A Peruvian citizen wanted under an active Interpol Red Notice was arrested during passenger checks at Cartagena’s Rafael Núñez Airport, Migración Colombia said.

Officials detected the alert while processing the passenger’s biometric and identity information after a commercial flight from Lima. The Red Notice had been issued by Peruvian authorities in connection with the alleged illegal possession of accessories and ammunition. Officers intercepted the man and handed him to judicial police for formal arrest proceedings aimed at extradition.

Migración Colombia also announced two discretionary expulsions in the Caribbean region. In Cartagena’s El Laguito neighborhood, officials working with the district Interior Secretariat and the Metropolitan Police removed a foreign woman who had accumulated multiple citations for consuming psychoactive substances in prohibited public spaces and repeatedly disrespecting police authorities.

Authorities said they verified her record in the Foreigners Reporting Information System and public-convivencia databases before notifying her and enforcing her immediate departure.

In Montería, Córdoba, the agency carried out a second expulsion involving a foreign national with final criminal convictions related to conduct contrary to civic coexistence. The procedure followed verification of the court rulings.
