Commonwealth Games: Amusan wins bronze in women’s 100m hurdles

Nigerian sprint hurdler Tobi Amusan secured a bronze medal in the women's 100m hurdles at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, concluding her bid for a historic third consecutive gold. Amusan, who had previously won gold at the Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022 Games, crossed the finish line in 12.60 seconds.

The gold medal went to Devynne Charlton of The Bahamas with a time of 12.33 seconds, while Jamaica's Megan Simmonds took silver in 12.41 seconds. Amusan's performance in the final fell short of the dominant display she showed earlier in the day during the heats, where she won her race in a wind-assisted 12.19 seconds. Although not eligible for record purposes due to excessive wind, this time was the fastest ever recorded at the Commonwealth Games under any conditions.

Despite not achieving a third consecutive title, the 29-year-old Nigerian athlete extended her impressive streak at the Games, marking her third consecutive podium finish in the 100m hurdles event. This consistent success underscores her standing as a top competitor in the discipline.
