Como thrash Genoa 4-1 to go top overnight

Como turned an early Genoa advantage into a commanding 4-1 victory at Marassi, taking temporary possession of the Serie A lead after the match opened the third round.

Genoa struck first in the 19th minute. Baldanzi sent Colombo down the left, and his driven cross found Osmajic, who finished first time to beat Butez. The lead lasted only six minutes. Valle played the ball centrally to Baturina, whose powerful shot found the bottom corner.

Como completed the turnaround in the 30th minute. Valle crossed from the right, Ostigard got a touch but could not clear, and Diao met the ball on the volley. Nico Paz then added a third before halftime after Couto found him near the offside line. Paz moved past Vasquez and finished under the crossbar.

Como had controlled much of the opening period with possession and patient attacking moves. Couto had tested Bijlow early, while Paz also forced a save before Genoa took the lead. After the break, De Rossi introduced Vitinha for Sabelli as Genoa tried to respond, but the hosts created little. Ellertsson won a corner after a promising combination, and Douvikas headed over.

Diao completed the scoring in the 80th minute. Nico Paz played Kean into space, Kean advanced centrally and laid the ball off for Diao, who crossed his finish into the net. The result gave Como a decisive away win, while Genoa suffered its third defeat in as many league matches.
