A complex, high-difficulty surgery to remove a stage-four colon tumor was successfully performed at Sur Referral Hospital, marking a significant advancement in specialized medical care within Oman's governorates. The surgical team, in collaboration with the Royal Hospital, operated for three hours to resect the tumor, which measured approximately 12 centimeters and had adhered to the abdominal wall, right fallopian tube, and ovary.

Dr. Badr Rashid Al Jaafari, Head of the Department of Surgery at Sur Hospital, confirmed the complete resection of the tumor and adhered structures while maintaining high patient safety standards. He noted that such intricate procedures were previously exclusive to the Royal Hospital in Muscat. The successful completion at Sur Referral Hospital demonstrates the growing capacity of governorate-level hospitals to manage complex cases, reflecting an integrated strategy among Omani health institutions to exchange expertise and develop national medical competencies.
