Contempt of Court Proceedings Against Negeri Sembilan Officials Postponed

A contempt of court proceeding against state officials in Negeri Sembilan has been adjourned by the Seremban High Court. The decision came after a request from the legal team representing the officials.

The officials, who are plaintiffs in a separate lawsuit, had sought an interim injunction. The contempt proceedings were initiated by the defendants in that lawsuit, Raja Norazli Raja Nordin and the Dewan Keadilan dan Undang (DKU) Negeri Sembilan, along with the State Legal Advisor. The Seremban High Court had initially granted leave for these contempt proceedings on July 8.

However, the legal representative for the state officials, Tuan Awang Armadajaya Awang Mahmud, informed the court that an application has been made to the Court of Appeal to suspend the high court proceedings related to the contempt issue. The Court of Appeal is scheduled to hear this application the following day.

Lawyers representing the defendants in the original lawsuit did not object to the adjournment. Consequently, the judge, Roz Mawar Rozain, postponed the entire case, including several attached documents, to September 28. This date awaits the outcome of the appeal court's decision.

The plaintiffs in the original lawsuit, who are the subjects of the contempt proceedings, include Datuk Mubarak Thahak (reportedly dismissed as Undang Luak Sungai Ujong), Undang Luak Jelebu Datuk Maarof Mat Rashad, Undang Luak Johol Datuk Muhammed Abdullah, and Undang Luak Rembau Abdul Rahim Yasin. Other plaintiffs named are Tunku Besar Tampin Tunku Syed Razman Syed Idrus Al-Qadri and Datuk Shahbandar Sungei Ujong Datuk Seri Badarudin Abdul Khalid. The interim order against these plaintiffs was obtained by Raja Norazli and DKU on June 5.
