Malaysian man stabbed to death in South Korea; mother watched final moments via video call

Ahmad Shah Ahmad Ros, 26, died in South Korea after being stabbed while attempting to mediate a group brawl. His mother, Zulfah Fadliani, 47, watched his final moments unfold during a video call from his wife, Nurcahaya Ruslan, 30, as he received hospital treatment.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m. Korean time. Ahmad Shah was at home with his wife when a Malaysian friend contacted him about an ongoing fight. According to Nurcahaya, who accompanied Ahmad Shah to the scene, he was suddenly stabbed by a man with a knife as he tried to intervene. The assailant fled immediately after the attack.

My daughter-in-law, who followed Ahmad Shah to the location, told me that as he was trying to break up the fight, my son was suddenly stabbed by a man with a knife before fleeing suddenly.

Ahmad Shah sustained severe abdominal wounds and significant blood loss. He was rushed to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead around 3:30 a.m. local time. Approximately 10 individuals were reportedly involved in the brawl. Authorities have arrested a Malaysian man in his 40s to assist with the investigation.

The family has requested that speculation about the incident cease and expressed hope for appropriate action from South Korean authorities. Meanwhile, the victim's sister, Ain Sephia, 25, announced that fundraising efforts for his repatriation exceeded the initial RM70,000 target, reaching RM80,000. The family is awaiting the completion of documentation with the Malaysian embassy in South Korea before the body can be brought home. Ahmad Shah, who had been working at a factory in South Korea since 2019, married in April and had planned to return to Malaysia in December.
