Copenhagen Airport saw 3.6% passenger increase in July, Spain most popular destination

Copenhagen Airport experienced a busy July, serving 3.45 million passengers, marking a 3.6% increase from the previous year. International travelers constituted two-thirds of this total, while Danish travelers made up the remaining third.

Many Danes have gone on holiday, while Copenhagen and the rest of Denmark continue to attract international visitors.

Spain emerged as the most popular summer destination, with Malaga, Mallorca, and Barcelona drawing significant numbers. A total of 294,000 passengers traveled between Copenhagen and 12 direct Spanish routes. Italy secured the second spot, seeing an 11% rise in passenger traffic to 263,000.

Good flight connections make it easier to get out into the world, but they also make Denmark more accessible to tourists and international business.

"This summer, airlines have deployed more aircraft on routes to Italy, and interest in the country has increased significantly," said Peter Krogsgaard, the airport's commercial director. He also noted a rise in Italian visitors to Denmark, contributing to the overall passenger growth.
