Cortina, Madonna di Campiglio, Courmayeur top Italian summer mountain destination list

Cortina d'Ampezzo, Madonna di Campiglio, and Courmayeur have emerged as Italy's most sought-after mountain destinations for summer vacations, according to the summer mountain observatory by Jfc, published in an ANSA preview.

Cortina d'Ampezzo secured the top spot with 2,717 votes, climbing two positions from the previous year. It is closely followed by Madonna di Campiglio in Trentino with 2,493 votes, and Courmayeur in the Aosta Valley with 2,105 votes. Further down the list, Livigno ranks fourth, while Breuil-Cervinia and Ponte di Legno gained positions. San Candido, a new entry in the top 20, achieved the best position among newcomers.

Massimo Feruzzi, sole administrator of Jfc and head of the observatory, noted the growing interest in "minor destinations" that are proving significant in their specific niches. Sauris is recognized as the most "relaxing and tranquil" destination, while Moso in Passiria is lauded for being the most "green and sustainable."

Cortina d'Ampezzo also won the classification for the trendiest and most luxurious destination, whereas Madonna di Campiglio was indicated as the most youthful and fun. Ortisei is considered the most suitable mountain destination for "families with children," and Roccaraso offers the best price-quality ratio. In terms of regional offerings for summer mountain tourism, Trentino leads, followed by Alto Adige and Veneto.
