Costa Verde access restricted Sunday, June 14, for Olaya Runners 5K 2026 race

Vehicle access to Lima's Costa Verde will be temporarily restricted on Sunday, June 14, 2026, to ensure the safety of participants in the Olaya Runners 5K race. The event, which is part of the celebrations for the 203rd anniversary of José Olaya Balandra's sacrifice, is expected to draw more than 14,000 athletes. The Chorrillos municipality announced that the traffic restrictions will be in place from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Specific sections affected include the circuit from Agua Dulce towards the Tenderini access, the intersection of Malecón Grau with Mariscal Castilla avenue, and the crossing of Cipriano Rivas avenue with Prolongación Mariscal Castilla. To minimize disruption, a Traffic Management Plan has been implemented. Vehicles traveling from Lima to Chorrillos can detour via Malecón Grau and then Prolongación Huaylas. For those heading from Chorrillos to Lima, routes will be via Prolongación Huaylas towards Alejandro Iglesias avenue or directly onto the Circuito de Playas. The race activities commence early, with kit distribution from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., followed by a dance activation, warm-up sessions, and the official race start at 8:00 a.m. for various categories. An awards ceremony is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution, adhere to traffic signals, and follow the guidance of municipal personnel.
