Countdown Begins for 18th International Eskişehir Fired Clay Symposium

Tepebaşı Municipality is counting down to the 18th International Eskişehir Fired Clay Symposium, set to take place from September 2-6. This year's event will bring together a total of eight artists, comprising six from Turkey and two international participants, to explore the artistic possibilities of fired clay.

Originating from Eskişehir's rich tradition of fired clay and tile production, the symposium has evolved since its inception in 2001. It has become a stable and sustainable platform, uniting artists, scientists, and industry professionals. The production heritage, which flourished with tile factories established in the early years of the Republic, has left a significant mark on Eskişehir's economic and social memory. Tepebaşı Municipality honors this historical legacy by integrating it with art, viewing fired clay not just as a building material but as a value embodying the city's identity, labor, and history.

The symposium has increasingly gained international recognition over the years, drawing artists, academics, scientists, and industry representatives from various countries to Eskişehir. These international gatherings and knowledge exchanges solidify the event's role as a vital cultural and artistic gateway for Eskişehir to the world. The 18th edition will add new collective works to Tepebaşı's open-air art collection, with permanent installations created by the participating artists across the city.

Tepebaşı Mayor Dt. Ahmet Ataç is scheduled to announce further details regarding the program and content of the 18th International Eskişehir Fired Clay Symposium at a press conference on August 28 at the Vecihi Hürkuş Aviation and Technology Park.
