Eğitim-İş criticizes ÖSYM over exam score 'error': 'Teachers' future cannot be surrendered to this unseriousness!'

The Eğitim-İş union has issued a strong statement criticizing the ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center) for alleged errors in calculating the scores for the 2026-MEB-AGS teacher exam. The union declared, "The future of teachers cannot be surrendered to this lack of seriousness!"

In its statement, titled "The future of teachers cannot be surrendered to this lack of seriousness," Eğitim-İş pointed out the perceived hypocrisy of ÖSYM. "ÖSYM, which does not show any flexibility to candidates who are even a few seconds late for the exam building, and holds them fully responsible for the smallest deficiency in application procedures, has miscalculated the scores of hundreds of thousands of teachers," the union stated.

Eğitim-İş further elaborated on the alleged mismanagement, noting that the exam institution, which demands strict adherence to rules from candidates, evaluated the 2026 exam using the question distribution from 2025. The results were announced without proper checks, and the system was shut down once the errors were discovered by candidates. The union emphasized that such "serious institutional unseriousness" cannot be dismissed with a brief technical explanation.

The union also placed responsibility on the Ministry of National Education, arguing that the newly established "National Education Academy" model, intended to retrain university graduates, has made teachers fragile, uncertain, and subject to unchecked processes. Eğitim-İş has opposed the Academy since its inception, viewing it as a structure that undermines universities' role in teacher training, devalues diplomas, and increases the ministry's political and administrative control over teacher employment. The union concluded that the exam results clearly demonstrate the problematic implementation of this system.
