Counterfeit Bearings Disrupt Market, Timken Urges Vigilance

The TIMKEN Company has issued a warning regarding the circulation of counterfeit bearings, stating that these fake products pose a significant threat to the market by harming consumers and legitimate businesses operating legally. The company is urging end-users and business partners in Indonesia to exercise increased caution and ensure the authenticity of TIMKEN brand products before making purchases.

Timken highlighted that unauthorized parties may be distributing products bearing the TIMKEN brand. To combat this, consumers and businesses are advised to confirm the source of any TIMKEN products and to verify the identity of sellers or suppliers through Timken's official website. The company views the protection of the market from counterfeit goods as crucial for maintaining healthy business competition.

"End-users and businesses in Indonesia are urged to purchase TIMKEN Brand bearings only through official distributors and to verify the identity of the seller or supplier of TIMKEN Brand products through the official Timken website," stated Ardhiyasa, legal counsel for The TIMKEN Company from A&Co Law Office. He added that the circulation of fake products not only risks harming consumers but also disadvantages businesses that sell genuine products in good faith.

This advisory follows Timken's successful legal action against a company in Balikpapan for trademark infringement. The Commercial Court at the Central Jakarta District Court, through Decision Number 133/Pdt.Sus-HKI/Merek/2025/PN Niaga, ruled in favor of Timken, confirming the sale of counterfeit TIMKEN brand bearings. The ruling, effective April 9, 2026, ordered the payment of Rp94.61 million in damages to Timken and mandated the immediate cessation of all activities related to the sale of these counterfeit bearings. Timken encourages anyone discovering suspected counterfeit bearings to report them to an official distributor in Indonesia with supporting evidence.
