Couple arrested in Peru linked to shooting at orchestra performance

Peruvian authorities have arrested a teenage couple, known by the aliases 'Goofy' and 'Paul,' who are suspected of firing shots during a performance by the musical orchestra Armonía 10 in Manchay. The arrests were made following the detention and confession of Jhon Alexander Durán Zenobio, who identified the couple as the perpetrators.

Durán Zenobio, 18, and his 17-year-old partner, Silvana Mariel R.M., were apprehended in a hotel in Pachacamac, a district in Lima. Police identified them as members of the criminal gang 'Los Chukys de Manchay-Nueva Generación.' According to Colonel Víctor Revoredo, head of the Criminal Investigation Directorate, the gang is allegedly involved in extortion, contract killings, and other criminal activities in Manchay, Cieneguilla, and La Molina.

An operation was mounted based on intelligence regarding the gang's activities and their suspected possession of firearms. The couple was located at the Moto Cross hostel, where officers found ammunition and illicit substances. A search of their room revealed a Glock firearm with a serial number, two 9mm magazines, a 30-round magazine, and additional ammunition. They also possessed drugs, a digital scale, SIM cards, and notes related to loans for merchants.

Durán Zenobio has an active warrant for extortion and was previously detained in April for similar offenses, receiving a suspended five-year sentence. Police suspect his involvement in the attack on Armonía 10, with further investigation pending based on evidence recovered from four mobile phones.
