Courtois to present investment platform at World Football Summit's 10th anniversary

Thibaut Courtois, the renowned goalkeeper for Real Madrid and the Belgian national team, is set to unveil his investment platform, NXTPLAY, at the upcoming 10th anniversary of the World Football Summit (WFS) in Madrid. The event, scheduled for September 15-16, is a major international congress for the football industry.

Courtois, alongside his partner Gonzalo Vila, co-founded NXTPLAY with the specific goal of enabling elite athletes to access capital ownership in ventures related to sports, media, and innovation. The platform already boasts investments in football clubs such as Le Mans FC, KRC Genk, and CD Extremadura, demonstrating its active engagement within the industry.

The World Football Summit, which originated in Madrid in 2016, is celebrating its tenth year by focusing on the evolving challenges within the football sector. Key topics for discussion will include the significant impact of artificial intelligence on the sport, the role of institutional investment, and the broader transformation of the football business model. Since its inception, WFS has organized over 33 events across eleven countries, cultivating a professional community of more than 150,000 individuals.

Marian Otamendi, CEO of World Football Summit, highlighted the unprecedented transformation the football industry has undergone since 2016. She anticipates that artificial intelligence will shape the next phase of the sport's evolution, and the Madrid summit will serve as a crucial forum for industry leaders to debate this topic. The 2026 edition will also introduce new initiatives, including a dedicated space for clubs, leagues, and federations, along with enhanced programs to promote female leadership in sports.
