CPBL: Fubon Guardians Unearth New Japanese Talent? Pitcher Yamazaki Maintains Perfect ERA

Fubon Guardians have potentially discovered another gem in their new Japanese pitcher, Masayoshi Yamazaki. The 23-year-old right-hander impressed in his second minor league outing, pitching three scoreless innings and striking out two batters. He has yet to allow a run in his five innings of work across two appearances, maintaining a perfect 0.00 ERA.

Yamazaki, who can throw over 150 kilometers per hour, joined the Shikoku Island League plus's Tokushima Indigo Socks after graduating high school in 2022. He spent five seasons there and gained international experience in the Colombian Winter League in 2024. He has now come to Taiwan to develop as a developmental foreign player for the Guardians.

In his recent game against the Uni-President Lions' minor league team, Yamazaki allowed one unearned run in the first inning. However, he settled down to retire the next three batters. He continued his strong performance in the third inning, preventing any further scoring. In total, he threw 56 pitches over three innings, allowing three hits and one unearned run while recording two strikeouts and one walk. The Guardians will be watching his progress closely as he continues his development in Taiwan.
