MLB Veteran Carlos Carrasco, Former AL Wins Leader, Joins KBO's LG Twins

The KBO defending champions, LG Twins, have bolstered their roster by signing veteran right-handed pitcher Carlos Carrasco. The 39-year-old, who boasts 112 career wins in Major League Baseball and was once the American League's wins leader, joins the team on a contract worth $360,000. Carrasco's signing comes shortly after the Twins released foreign pitcher Yacksel Rios.

Carrasco brings a wealth of experience, having spent 17 seasons in MLB with teams including the Cleveland Guardians, New York Mets, Atlanta Braves, and New York Yankees. His career statistics include 112 wins and 105 losses over 343 appearances, with a 4.24 ERA. Notably, he tied for the AL lead in wins in 2017 and received the AL Comeback Player of the Year award in 2019 after returning from a leukemia diagnosis.

This season, Carrasco appeared in 8 games for the Braves as a reliever, posting a 5.94 ERA in 16.2 innings. He was released by the Braves on July 21, making him available for the KBO. The LG Twins, currently third in the league with a 52-38 record and struggling through a six-game losing streak, are looking to Carrasco to stabilize their pitching rotation. The team expressed confidence in his ability to adapt quickly due to his extensive game experience and mature control over his pitches.
