CPBL: MLB-level foreign slugger dropped from starting lineup for third straight game as manager explains why

Dowersim came off the bench for the Rakuten Monkeys and delivered a hit, but the MLB-experienced foreign hitter remained on the bench the following day, marking three straight games outside the starting lineup.

Manager Tseng Hao-chu said the decision was linked to the recent form of veteran catcher Lin Hung-yu, nicknamed “Little Fatty,” as well as Dowersim’s own hitting. Lin has maintained good form, Tseng said, so the coaching staff is considering both players when setting the lineup.

Dowersim last started on Aug. 30, when he went 0-for-4 against the Uni-Lions. After his pinch-hit single the previous day, his batting average rose to .224, but he still did not return to the starting lineup.

Dowersim has appeared in 17 games this season, collecting 11 hits and two RBIs without a home run. Lin is hitting .270, with one hit in his last four at-bats.
