Croatian midfielder Krovinović joins Brazilian club Grêmio, ready for new challenge

Filip Krovinović has officially joined Brazilian club Grêmio, signaling his commitment to a new challenge in South America. The Croatian midfielder, who will wear the number eight jersey, arrived after Hajduk mutually terminated his contract. Krovinović stated he wasn't in Brazil for sightseeing but to actively help the team.

I was in the last year of my contract with Hajduk. I had offers from other clubs, but I wanted to accept this challenge because I know I can help the team with my experience.

Krovinović's decision was influenced by conversations with former Grêmio striker Jonas, who shared insights into the club's significance and the fervent football culture in Porto Alegre. Additionally, coach Luís Castro, with whom Krovinović previously worked at Rio Ave, played a crucial role in his move.

He emphasized his adaptability, noting his ability to play multiple midfield positions and his preference for controlling the game's tempo while contributing to both attack and defense.

Despite Grêmio's current 17th position in the Brazilian league, Krovinović expressed confidence in his ability to perform under pressure, drawing on his experience at a major club like Hajduk. He is eager to begin playing, though he will miss the upcoming Copa do Brasil match due to eligibility rules, he plans to attend.

I played in all positions in midfield. I like to have the ball, dictate the game's rhythm, participate in attack and defense, and give my all until the last minute. I will play where the coach deems me most needed.

Krovinović's arrival was a joint decision by Grêmio's technical staff and scouting department. Club vice-president Rafael Lima highlighted Krovinović's extensive European experience as a key factor, expressing certainty that he will be a significant reinforcement for the team. Krovinović also spoke Portuguese, a language he learned during his time in Portugal, which he believes will aid his adaptation.

I am used to playing under pressure, I am not afraid of it, and I am mentally very strong. In Croatia, I played for a big club like Hajduk. I am ready. I didn't come here to play around or get to know the city, but to play football and help the team.
