Croatian Minister Shares Story of Lifelong Love, Meeting Wife at 17

Croatian Interior Minister Davor Božinović, known for maintaining a private life despite his public role, has offered a rare glimpse into his enduring marriage to Jasna.

Božinović recounted meeting his wife in Tivat when she was 17 years old. He described her as the most beautiful and intelligent girl in town, stating that she still holds that same appeal for him today. "I fell head over heels, and yes, it was love at first sight," he admitted in a rare interview.

We met as kids in Tivat, she was 17 then and was the most beautiful and smartest girl in town, and in my eyes and heart, she is still that same girl today. I have to admit that I fell head over heels, and yes, it was love at first sight.

Their youthful romance blossomed, nurtured by shared interests, including classical music, as both had completed elementary music school in Tivat. This connection culminated in their marriage in 1988, with a civil ceremony at the Old City Hall in Zagreb, followed by a church wedding.

Throughout Božinović's demanding career, which spanned diplomacy and politics, Jasna has been a steadfast pillar of support. She ensured their two daughters, Ive and Bruno, had a stable upbringing while he was dedicated to his work. Jasna herself is a successful dentist and owner of a private practice in Zaprešić, a city the couple considers an "oasis of relaxation."
