Croatian 'Speed King' Caught After Months of Reckless Driving and Filming

A 22-year-old man's dangerous joyrides on Croatian roads have come to an end, with police preparing criminal charges for reckless driving. For months, he terrorized local roads in the Krapina-Zagorje region, reaching speeds of up to 280 kilometers per hour. His offenses included driving unregistered and uninsured motorcycles without a proper license, overtaking on solid lines, and driving in oncoming traffic.

The 22-year-old drove, among other things, an unregistered and uninsured motorcycle without a driving license for category A, reaching speeds of up to 260 kilometers per hour.

Police highlighted several particularly perilous incidents. In Marija Bistrica, on a road with a 50 km/h limit, he drove between 180 and 240 km/h in the opposite lane, narrowly avoiding a head-on collision. In Zlatar, on another 50 km/h road, he exceeded 200 km/h while operating the car with his feet, filming himself with his phone. He also engaged in "drifting" around roundabouts in Zabok and Krapina.

He drove his car at speeds up to 280 kilometers per hour, overtaking over solid lines and driving in the opposite lane, while filming the dangerous drives with his mobile phone, the police announced on Saturday.

Authorities noted that he would film these dangerous stunts, sometimes having others film him, and then publicly share the videos. During the investigation, his car and driver's license were temporarily confiscated. He now faces charges for reckless driving, with prosecutors to pursue the case.
