Cuauhtémoc removes 550 meters of unused cables, bringing total to 23 interventions since 2025

Workers removed 550 meters of unused cable from the Hipódromo neighborhood in Mexico City’s Cuauhtémoc borough during the latest Descabléale cleanup.

The crews worked around Reynosa, Ensenada, Cholula and General Benjamín Hill streets, coordinating with companies responsible for the various networks. CFE, Izzi, Totalplay, Axtel, Bestel and UC Telecom took part and removed cable belonging to their systems.

The borough said the operation brought the total to 23 interventions since 2025 and 3,100 meters of unused cable removed across Cuauhtémoc. Borough officials said abandoned cable accumulates on streets, harms the appearance of neighborhoods and can pose risks to pedestrians.

The administration said it would continue the Descabléale program across the borough’s 33 neighborhoods with the companies responsible for the infrastructure.

Some companies are joining us because the cables left hanging are not only dangerous, but we also need to improve the urban landscape.
