Cuba extends condolences to China, Nepal, Algeria after natural disasters

Cuba has extended its deepest condolences and solidarity to the governments and peoples of China, Nepal, and Algeria in response to devastating natural disasters that have struck these nations. Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla conveyed the messages of sympathy via the social media platform X, acknowledging the significant loss of life, numerous disappearances, injuries, and extensive material damage caused by these events.

In China, heavy floods in the Tibet region, triggered by a massive landslide that dammed a river and caused a sudden surge, have resulted in casualties and widespread damage. Minister Rodríguez Parrilla extended condolences to the Communist Party, the Government, and the people of China, specifically mentioning the victims, the missing, and the damage. He also extended sympathies to the families and loved ones of those affected.

Nepal is grappling with the aftermath of a catastrophic glacial ice collapse, which generated a debris flow impacting several territories. Reports indicate that the death toll has surpassed 500, with thousands still missing. Experts attribute the rapid spread and amplification of the phenomenon to factors such as significant altitude differences, steep slopes, and the presence of loose materials in riverbeds. International centers have warned of potential secondary floods in the coming days due to debris accumulation in river systems.

Meanwhile, Algeria has been battling devastating wildfires across its northeastern provinces of Jijel, Bejaia, and Tizi Ouzou. These fires occurred amidst record-breaking temperatures and an intense heatwave, leading to numerous deaths and dozens of injuries. The Cuban Foreign Minister expressed regret over the fatalities and injuries, wishing a swift recovery to those wounded. Both China and Nepal have seen their natural disasters devastate communities, disrupt transportation, and damage critical infrastructure.
