Customs and Malang Regency Seize 2,520 Illegal Cigarettes in Joint Operation

Customs and the Malang Regency government have joined forces to combat the illegal cigarette trade, successfully seizing 2,520 cigarettes during a targeted operation. The joint effort, part of the 'Gempur Rokok Ilegal' (Raid Illegal Cigarettes) initiative, focused on shops within the Pagak District of Malang Regency.

During the operation on Thursday, officials confiscated the illegal cigarettes, identified as machine-rolled kretek type. The haul included 960 cigarettes from a shop on Jalan Raya Krajan and 1,560 cigarettes from two shops in Dusun Krajan. The estimated value of the seized goods is Rp 3,748,600.

Malang Customs Office Head Johan Pandores emphasized that the crackdown is crucial for optimizing tobacco excise revenue sharing (DBH CHT), ensuring its benefits reach the community through public programs. He noted that illegal cigarette distribution harms state revenue and creates unfair competition for the tobacco industry, urging the public to report any illegal cigarette activity.
