Customs Official Silent After KPK Examination

Akhmad Fikri Yahmani, head of the employee dismissal and retirement division at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, remained tight-lipped after his examination by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Monday, July 20, 2026. "Just ask the investigators," Yahmani told reporters as he left the KPK's Red and White Building in South Jakarta.

Yahmani did not deny when asked if his examination was connected to Ahmad Dedi, a senior official at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, whose employment status remains with the directorate. However, Yahmani claimed ignorance regarding Dedi's role in the alleged import bribery case and refused to comment on the alleged involvement of other customs officials.

The examination, which lasted about 30 minutes, saw Yahmani, dressed in a short-sleeved checkered shirt and a black mask, enter the second-floor examination room at 2:25 PM and exit at 2:54 PM. He was accompanied by several individuals during the process.

This is not the first time Yahmani has been questioned in connection with the same case. Previously, on July 17, 2026, investigators questioned him about the employment status of Budiman Bayu Prasojo, a former head of customs intelligence and enforcement. The KPK is actively expanding its investigation into the import bribery case, building upon previous proceedings that have already reached the trial stage. KPK's acting director of investigations, Achmad Taufik Husein, stated that investigators would develop the case based on prior findings, emphasizing that the expansion aims to uncover all parties involved or aware of the bribery, rather than targeting specific individuals.

To date, the KPK has brought six defendants to trial. Among them are Budiman Bayu Prasojo and former Directorate General of Customs and Excise officials Rizal, Sisprian Subiaksono, and Orlando Hamonangan, who are accused of receiving bribes. Three individuals who allegedly provided the bribes – John Field, Andri, and Dedy Kurniawan, all associated with PT Blueray Cargo – have already been convicted by the Jakarta Corruption Court. Field received a two-year prison sentence and a fine, while Andri and Dedy Kurniawan received similar sentences.
