'Cuti' Romero bids emotional farewell to Tottenham after five seasons

Cristian 'Cuti' Romero has bid farewell to Tottenham Hotspur, sharing a heartfelt letter and a video compilation of his goals after five seasons with the English club. The Argentinian defender, who joined Tottenham in 2022 from Atalanta and became one of the team's captains, described the club as more than just a place of work. "It has been my home, my challenge, and the place where my family and I have built such an important part of our lives," Romero wrote on Instagram. He arrived with a clear ambition: to leave his mark on the club's history. Romero stated that this was only possible through hard work, sacrifice, and ultimately, achieving what had long seemed difficult – lifting a trophy, which he did in 2025. Despite acknowledging that his journey was not "perfect" due to numerous injuries, he emphasized that these setbacks do not define his departure. Romero extended his thanks to his teammates and all club staff, stating they are all part of his story and hold a place in his heart. "Thank you for loving me, respecting me, and making me feel like one of you from day one," he concluded, adding that while he is leaving the club, a piece of his heart will always remain there.
