Cyber University and BINUS University strengthen academic cooperation

Cyber University has turned to BINUS University for guidance as it updates the curriculum of its undergraduate Information Systems and Technology program. The benchmarking visit took place at BINUS Alam Sutera in Tangerang and focused on an Outcome-Based Education approach.

The event carried the theme “Updating an OBE-Based Curriculum to Strengthen Cybersecurity Competence and Graduate Competitiveness.” It was presented as part of Cyber University’s effort to keep its curriculum responsive to technological change and the needs of business and industry.

The Cyber University delegation discussed higher-education management, curriculum development and ways to improve student competencies with BINUS University Rector Dr Nelly and other senior officials. The meeting also highlighted the need to develop skills relevant to technological advances, including cybersecurity.

Neneng Rachmalia Feta, head of Cyber University’s Information Systems and Technology program, said benchmarking formed an important part of evaluating and updating the curriculum. “The curriculum needs to be updated continuously so that the competencies provided to students remain relevant to technological developments and the needs of the workplace,” she said.

Feta said the OBE approach would help ensure that learning focused not only on course material but also on the competencies graduates need. “Through this benchmarking, we can see the good practices implemented by BINUS University, particularly in curriculum development and strengthening competencies in technology and cybersecurity,” she said. The five-member Cyber University delegation included university leaders, the program head and curriculum developers. Feta said the insights would provide constructive input for improving the program and raising the quality and competitiveness of its graduates.
