Da Lat Student Dang Huy Hau Receives Third-Class Labor Medal

Dang Huy Hau, a 12th-grade information technology student at Thang Long High School for the Gifted in Da Lat, has received the State President’s Third-Class Labor Medal.

Lam Dong Party Secretary Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam presented the medal on September 5 at the school’s opening ceremony, acting on behalf of the State President. Hau also received a certificate of merit from the chairman of the Lam Dong provincial People’s Committee.

The medal recognizes a series of international achievements. Hau won silver at the International Olympiad in Informatics for two consecutive years, in Bolivia in 2025 and in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, in 2026. At the 2025 competition, he ranked 54th among 334 contestants from 90 countries and territories.

Hau is the first and only student from Lam Dong to win a medal at the International Olympiad in Informatics. When he was in 10th grade, he won silver at the 19th Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad, including a perfect score of 100 out of 100 on one problem. That same year, he won first place and became the national valedictorian in the national information technology competition for gifted students, despite competing in an examination intended for 12th graders.

At the beginning of 2026, Hau led the selection round for Vietnam’s national informatics team with a score of 468.95. He had also ranked first in the entrance examination for the school’s information technology class and had won top prizes in domestic informatics competitions since fifth grade.
