Da Nang Arrests 28-Year-Old Suspect Accused of Robbing Passenger Bus

Da Nang police arrested a 28-year-old man after hours of searching for a suspect accused of carrying out several robberies, including stopping a passenger bus with a weapon.

N.H.A., who lives in Thạnh Bình commune, was detained while riding a motorbike along a coastal road between Thăng An and Thăng Trường communes on the evening of Sept. 6. Police said they identified his route and organized the arrest after tracking him for several hours.

Authorities said the reported robberies took place on Sept. 5 in Thạnh Bình and Chiên Đàn communes. During the alleged offenses, N.H.A. stopped a passenger bus and robbed property before leaving the scene and traveling through several areas. Dashcam footage reportedly captured him restraining passengers and the bus driver.

After moving through Thạnh Bình and Chiên Đàn, the suspect traveled toward Tam Kỳ, an area covering parts of what were formerly Tam Kỳ city and Phú Ninh district in Quảng Nam province. Thạnh Bình commune police worked with Da Nang’s criminal police division and police in other communes and wards to search for him.

Local authorities described the suspect as aggressive and reckless and said he was carrying a weapon. They warned residents, particularly at night, to remain alert and not approach or pursue him. Police are continuing to clarify the robberies he is allegedly responsible for before taking action under the law.
