Da Nang: Long-haul bus manager caught with large quantity of drugs

Authorities in Da Nang, Vietnam, have arrested a long-haul bus manager in connection with a significant drug trafficking operation. The suspect, identified as Pham Van Thanh, 41, was apprehended early on August 7th as he prepared to distribute illicit substances.

During the arrest, law enforcement officers seized over 100 grams of ketamine and 135.5 ecstasy pills. The bust occurred just as Thanh had disembarked from the bus he managed, which operates on a regular route from northern Vietnam to the south. He was intercepted in the Hòa Khánh ward of Da Nang city.

Border guards and police had been monitoring Thanh due to suspicions of his involvement in the illegal drug trade. Recognizing his role as a manager for a long-distance bus service, the authorities coordinated their efforts to build a case and execute the arrest. The operation culminated in Thanh's capture in the early hours of the morning.

Initial investigations reveal that Thanh admitted to purchasing the drugs with the intention of selling them for profit. He is currently in custody as authorities continue their investigation into the illegal drug trading activities. The case is being jointly investigated by the Da Nang Border Guard and the City Police.
