Dance show 'Pinokyo.exe' to meet art lovers in Bodrum

Art enthusiasts in Bodrum, Turkey, will have the opportunity to experience "Pinokyo.exe: A Puppet for Crooked Times," a contemporary dance performance set to captivate audiences at the 23rd International Bodrum Ballet Festival. The show, presented by the modern dance troupe MDTİstanbul, affiliated with the State Opera and Ballet, is scheduled for August 16 and 17.

"Pinokyo.exe" has garnered significant attention and sold-out performances in Istanbul. The production offers a novel interpretation of Carlo Collodi's beloved "Pinocchio" tale, transplanting it into a dystopian future where technology and artificial realities dominate. The narrative explores the unexpected bond that forms between an elderly man, whose days are spent passively watching an old television, and a mysterious "synthetic child" brought to him.

This new Pinocchio, constructed from circuits and coded memories, disrupts the old man's static existence, drawing the audience into a world where the lines between reality and imagination blur. Within this universe populated by strange and fantastical beings, technology acts as a transformative force, reshaping the characters' lives and imbuing reality itself with an inevitable, dystopian character.

The production features choreography by Erika Silgoner, with music design by Murat Gökçe Özücoşkun, set and costume design by Gülden Sayıl, and lighting design by Yasin Gültepe. The performances will take place at the Bodrum Castle North Moat Stage, adding a historic backdrop to this modern exploration of technology and humanity.
