Danish Football Chief Maintains No Confidence in FIFA President Infantino

Jesper Møller, the chairman of the Danish Football Association (DBU), has reiterated his lack of confidence in Gianni Infantino's leadership as president of the International Football Federation (FIFA). Møller acknowledged that Infantino's written apology regarding the FIFA Forward Enterprise proposal and the confirmation of its withdrawal were positive steps. However, he stated that these developments have not altered his previously expressed opinions on the matter.

Last week, Møller declared that his trust in Infantino had evaporated following the controversy surrounding FIFA's plan to establish a commercial entity for selling shares. FIFA intended to sell shares worth over 27 billion Danish kroner, with a portion of the proceeds to be distributed among national football associations. Infantino faced criticism for allegedly selling the soul of football and for the manner in which the proposal was presented, notably without involving continental confederations and other stakeholders.

Infantino issued a public apology late Wednesday for his actions in the affair. Despite this, UEFA continues to threaten a boycott of FIFA tournaments while Infantino remains president. Møller emphasized that, at a minimum, a complete report containing all relevant information and documents must be produced. He suggested that the decision on whether this report can wait until the next ordinary FIFA Council meeting should be made by UEFA's leadership and the European members of the Council. The DBU chairman's firm stance highlights the ongoing tension and lack of trust between European football authorities and FIFA's current leadership.
