Danish quartet among favorites for DP World Tour tournament on home soil

Denmark has a strong chance of seeing a home-grown winner at the DP World Tour tournament, which is being held on Danish soil for the first time at Great Northern in Kerteminde.

Four Danish golfers – Rasmus Højgaard, Rasmus Neergaard, Jacob Skov Olesen, and Thorbjørn Olesen – are prominently featured among the favorites according to betting odds. They are joined by Spain's Eugenio Chacarra and Angel Ayora, and Finland's Oliver Lindell.

Chacarra, 26, enters the tournament in strong form with two recent DP World Tour victories in June and holds the highest world ranking in the field at 63. He is naturally the top favorite. However, Rasmus Højgaard is considered a co-favorite by several bookmakers and is a strong contender, having won the Danish DP World Tour event in 2023 and achieved his best PGA Tour result this year with a fourth-place finish.

Following Chacarra and Højgaard in the betting odds are Neergaard, Skov Olesen, and Olesen, with Ayora and Lindell also in contention. Neergaard, experiencing a rapid career rise, expressed confidence in his game, stating, "I always go into a tournament expecting to be able to play at the top if I hit my best game." He emphasized the importance of being able to look back on Sunday knowing he did everything he could.

Bookmakers have less confidence in the chances of the two major champions in the field. American Bubba Watson, a two-time Masters winner, is listed at odds up to 61, while Sweden's Henrik Stenson, the 2016 Open champion, can be found at odds of 111.
