Danish Speedway Riders Miss Final in Riga Grand Prix

Danish speedway riders Michael Jepsen Jensen and Leon Madsen experienced a disappointing outing at the Riga Grand Prix, failing to qualify for the final in Latvia's capital. The event, the third-to-last of the season, saw only eight and seven points scored by Jepsen Jensen and Madsen, respectively, leaving them far from podium contention.

Jepsen Jensen's hopes were dashed after a severe crash in heat 16. He was involved in an incident with local rider Andzejs Lebedevs and appeared to be injured, though he managed to leave the track. Despite the scare, national coach Nicki Pedersen reported positively on his condition, and Jepsen Jensen was able to return to racing.

Madsen, who entered the first last chance qualifier as the fourth-best rider, finished last, missing out on a final spot. Jepsen Jensen subsequently repeated this performance in his own last chance qualifier, also finishing fourth and leaving Riga without a place in the final.

Meanwhile, defending world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik secured victory, his second of the season. He finished ahead of Britain's Robert Lambert and took the overall lead in the championship standings. Another Danish rider, Anders Thomsen, who had previously won a Grand Prix this season, managed to score only a single point.
