Danish striker Høgh joins Celtic for club record fee

Danish international striker Kasper Høgh is set to make a record-breaking move to Scottish champions Celtic, the club announced Tuesday. The 25-year-old successfully passed his medical examination before joining the Glasgow-based club from Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt, where he was a standout player.

Celtic confirmed that Høgh's transfer represents a new club record, with reports from Sky Sports and other media outlets suggesting a fee of approximately 96 million kroner (around $14 million) plus bonuses. During his two-and-a-half years with Bodø/Glimt, Høgh netted 54 goals in 103 appearances. He gained significant attention after scoring five goals in the team's Champions League campaign last season, including two in a 3-1 victory over Manchester City and a match-winning goal against Atlético Madrid.

Høgh's club success translated to the international stage, earning him a debut for the Danish national team in a crucial playoff match against North Macedonia in March. He scored his first national team goal against the Czech Republic five days later and has since contributed four appearances and one goal for Denmark.

At Celtic, Høgh is expected to help fill the void left by Japanese forward Daizen Maeda and Nigerian Kelechi Iheanacho. The Danish striker expressed his enthusiasm for the move, telling the club's website that he views Celtic as a "really good match." He added, "I have trained all summer and have already played league games in Norway, so I feel ready. I just want to get started and be thrown into it." Høgh will wear the number nine jersey for Celtic, who have also signed Colombian forward Camilo Duran this summer.
